Starter Solenoid

The starter solenoid acts like an electromagnetic switch. When ignition is imitated by turning a key or pushing a button, electricity enters a solenoid in a starter circuit. A connection inside the engine then allows electricity to flow to the starter motor. The circuit cannot be completed when a solenoid goes bad and the starter will not get the electricity needed to start the motor.
